It was showcased in a special Nintendo Direct that centered on the upcoming animated film. The sequel to the successful 2023 release The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this new installment will send Mario to the outer limits of the cosmos. In his journey, he meets a fresh princess character and a powerful new opponent in Bowser Jr., the heir to Bowser's throne. A Space-Faring Quest Based on Beloved Titles Much like the Wii-era games that provide its foundation, Mario will venture away from the familiar comforts of the Mushroom Kingdom to journey through the cosmos. During his grand adventure, he will reunite with some familiar faces, for instance the Luma, a breakout star from the original cinematic release. But it appears Mario and his sibling Luigi will face a fresh enemy in the form of Bowser's angry little boy, who seemingly commands metallic abilities. Worth mentioning, the trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not only concentrated on Galaxy-themed scenes; it also features references to additional popular titles like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury. Star-Studded Voice Cast Reprise Roles and Welcome Newcomers The film will feature once again of the primary vocal talent, featuring Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek. Fresh faces in the lineup for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will portray Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to embody Bowser Jr. The casting was verified by Illumination CEO Chris Meledandri. Nintendo confirmed a set of three fresh titles officially announced for that year, featuring Mario Tennis Fever, a release on Switch 2 of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a fresh Yoshi side-scroller titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book. Premiere Date Announced The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is officially set to be released on April 3, 2026.
